UPDATE: Okay, well, it looks like they removed the Kid's artwork from their gallery. Guess they found it too offensive....or crappy. Anyway, good thing I just did a screen capture of mine so it's saved forever!
DOUBLE UPDATE: The Kid still had his window open so he was able to get a screen grab of his artwork.
We're so classy.
I'm crazy busy these days and bordering on deliriously tired. I walked out of an all day training session at work half way through because I couldn't concentrate enough to care.
I decided I should pay some random bills that needed to be taken care of. One is a medical thing, and they're retarded since they won't automatically bill me. So once a month I get a bill for $40. I hadn't paid in a bout 4 months so I figured it was about time.
The second bill I had to deal with was AT&T. I used to have them for DSL and phone, but now just DSL. In the process they lost my automatic payment info. Plus, it no longer let me log in online to see my bill or make payments and all that other good stuff. Paying bills online is one of the things I love about the internet. Going through their phone system is extremely painful since it keeps asking for a phone number, which I don't have. I have this fake number that starts with a 0, but the system doesn't recognize it and every time I enter it it tells me I must have fat fingers to try again. I my friends, do not have fat fingers.
Finally I get a real person and proceed to complain that they're retarded for not charging me when they should be, get my finance charge waived, and finally tell them that neither their website nor their phone system recognizes me as a customer. The nice lady tries it for herself and is all confused when it doesn't work. She transfers me to someone who can "help."
I explain problem to lady #2. Her response:
"No," she says.
"What do you mean no?" I ask, confused by her brevity and bluntness, especially since I had not asked her a question with a yes/no answer.
"Internet only customers can't view their statements online," she says, completely serious.
Are you fucking kidding me? Of all their customers, the internet only customers are the ones that want to and are most capable of viewing their statements online. What kind of stupid shit is this? Plus they keep sending me crap to sign up for online only statements and how managing my account online is the greatest thing ever. What a fucking tease.
To top it all off I'm going to have to call them back in a couple weeks to give them my new credit card number. Oh, the joy.
Oh, and my Rock Band bass pedal snapped last night. I had noticed cracks the night before after realizing it felt kinda flex-y. Thankfully I have a backup drum set.
Yes, I am out of control.
Oh and earlier last night before the pedal died, lazyJ and I had some head to head drumming battles when I still had two full working drum sets. It sounded like a high school drum line at times. He won 3-1 or something, but he also cheated and hit my pads.
I finally finished cutting up and uploading the video footage from my birthday party a couple weeks back. There's a few good performances which didn't get captured since the tape in the camcorder ran out and I didn't notice. The comments on youtube have been great so far, including:
"The word horrible comes to mind"
and
"OMG WTF u suck u can't even play this on expert LOL wtf FAG"
As funny as that comment was, I deleted it since it was the closest satisfaction I could get to actually deleting people who don't deserve the internet. The internet is a privilege, not a right. fag.
OK here they are. ENJOY.

My favorites are 24-27. On video 26, Katie, the surprise rock star of the night, loses a drum stick as the song starts and it bounces off the cymbal and she has to go scurrying to find it. It's great. Then in video 27, you see the rest of her all girl band discussing how displeased they are with her performance over the past three songs due in part to her rampant drug use. "Do you want to sing? You should SO sing." They then proceeded to turn it up to 11 and rock our socks off.
I hang my head in shame.
My recent guitar rocking has greatly hurt my drums rocking, and other bad excuses.
Sorry for the lack of posts. I've had some things here and there to write about but just no time to actually write them up. I screwed something up at work 1 month ago, however just realized it this week as I was wrapping up my project. Kind of sucks, because the past month's work was all built off a bad starting point. The higher ups will get to hear about my screw up, and chances are they'll go ahead and build the chip since in the cell phone business it's better to build it bad than to build it late. Late equals missing the 2010 holiday shopping season which is a bad thing. It's not a huge problem and it is just a phone, but still it's a little hard to swallow since work wise I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
Oh yea - phones coming out christmas 2010 are going to be AWESOME. They will have NO PROBLEMS and you should buy lots of them. I kid though, because this stuff happens all the time. We're not building defibrillators here, so I guess it's not a big deal.
Hey look at me, rambling when I should be working. I'm surprised this is the first I've procrastinated this week. So, back to the reason I started this post. I watched The Reaping earlier tonight while working, so I'm a little in that post-spooky-movie mode. I'm sitting in the living room where I have a view into the kitchen, when I hear a weird noise as if someone was pushing on the window. I look over, and figure it must just be the wind. But then something else happens. See, I have this fancy/dorky trash can that automatically opens when you hold something in front of it, and it will also open up if you walk by too close to it. About 3 seconds after the weird window noise happened, the same amount of time it would take someone to slowly walk from the window to the trash can....the trash can opened on its own. The only reasonable conclusion is my trash can can see ghosts, and a ghost came into my house because it had something to throw away.
Ok, back to work. My new favorite TV to work to is the high def music video station. They just played Foo Fighter's song Everlong which I haven't seen the video for in forever. I love it when they wake up and the bed turns into a drum set.
You'll have to click through to watch the video to appease their record label.
I have a mandatory work picnic to go to tomorrow. I love social settings where I'm forced to spend time with people I would never hang out with voluntarily.
Someone should come over and take out my ghost trash.
I just posted about Zooey, but then something came up that I just had to share. Or rather, lazyJ had to share.

I love me some Zooey. You might recognize her from the movies Elf and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and recently her band She & Him released an album. She sings pretty. I added one of her songs to the music player, and there are more are on the She&Him Myspace page.

She was also in the movie The Good Girl where she has a minor role but some really great lines like this one:
(Zooey = Cheryl)
Cheryl: Sit right down here, ma'am. We're going to make you pretty. Now how do you like your hair?
Big Haired Woman: What? Are you going to do my hair?
Cheryl: No, I just need to know if that's your usual way of wearing it, all big and high. If it is, I'll just put more makeup on your chin to offset it. You're going to want to take a whole bottle of this home with you. It's got quite a lot of ingredients in it, so you're getting a good deal. It's got ginkgo extract in it. Do you know what that is?
Big Haired Woman: No.
Cheryl: It's extract of the ginkgo, and it makes your skin real slick so that any liquid will roll right off you, be it water, or lemon juice, or urine. I'll put it in a bag for you.
I turned 30 this weekend, and thanks to friends that are way too good to me there was a seriously rockin' party. Tom and I built a stage, lazyJ took care of the lighting, Felicia loaned us her PA system, and Gabe made this beauty:

At one point there was a rock band drum off of me vs LazyJ. Sadly I didn't realize that the tape ran out before lazyJ's performance, so we can only show you mine:
This makes me feel a little better about the pre-party trash talking video we sent Ammogirl. Here's the flattire boys rocking a little Blink 182. We're pretty spot on with that one but could use some longer guitar straps.

I had set up my camera to take a picture once a minute all night, and here are the highlights. The dark room with stage lights look is lost because of the camera's flash, but oh well. The pics at the end are of a Greg & Tom post part jam session, because the rock band party plus the 5-6 hours of rock band we played the day before apparently weren't enough.
I've got a lot of grainy low light video to upload to youtube for everyone to laugh at but it might take a while. Thanks to everyone who helped out, showed up, and most importantly rocked out.

Lykke Li has a new video out! LazyJ had to tell me which was a little disappointing. At this stage in our relationship I really thought Lykke would've told me personally through her fan mailing list or myspace announcement.
I dig the video which totally reminds me of how awesome she is. And who doesn't love her Lykke dance moves?
btw - this weekend is going to rock.
So I finally carbonated the beer that lazyJ, Tom, and I brewed last December and threw it in the beer fridge. This brew was modeled after New Belgium Frambozen. Yeah, it's a little fruity, but in a really manly kind of way. It still needs more carbonation time, but so far the reviews have been very positive.
My bro is off fighting terror in the Middle East, which sucks but at least he has email access so we can keep in touch. Here's part of his latest email:
So I was taking a dump in the mini latrine toward the outside of our hooch in Zone 6. It's one of those really small latrines with two commodes and 2 urinals in the space of about 5' x 5' The stall I was using had the latch missing, so I had to use my hand to hold it shut. The next thing I know, another person walked in to the portable latrine units, and started rinsing his hands. So while he was in there, I held the door shut with my hand.
Anyways, I was waiting for the person to leave so I can let my hand rest and just let the door swing open, since it’s tiring to take a shit while holding the stall door shut. The next thing I know, the guy was pushing against my door, and I kept pushing it back. It went back and forth about 3 times, and I finally said "yo, i am in here". The other person responded, "my bad man, i thought it was the wind". I am like WTF!!! How can there be wind when the latrine door is closed??? Just another crazy Monday night out here in the desert!
Had a little surprise birthday party for Gabe this Saturday, you may remember him as the guy who gave his daughter a mustache as a follow on to our last flickr war.
Tom made some sweet place mats.

Mmm....salt lick...

I'm still full.
Breaking news, via twitter. A bird just shat on Tom's head through his open sunroof. I don't know if his vehicle was moving at the time or not. I'm picturing some sort of GPS guided smart bomb shit. I bet there are bird generals somewhere reviewing the tapes, congratulating themselves on their precision air strike.

What the bitch needs is to stop buying so many damn books.
I got my haircut, and I look pretty sexy I must say. I decided to grab some Whataburger on the way back to work, and when I pulled up at the second window to pick up my grub the drive through chica asked if I wanted a free strawberry milkshake. I'm generally skeptical of free food which must've come across as a skeptical but curious look on my face. She quickly explained that she had made the wrong flavor for the previous customer. I rarely drink milkshakes, but strawberry is my favorite so I accepted the aforementioned milkshake at zero cost.
Now here I am, 3/4 of the way through a milkshake that's larger than should be legal, when I realize something. Hmmm...do they call them milkshakes because they put milk in them? Uh-oh... Lactose intolerant people should not drink 3/4 of a giant milkshake.
I just popped a couple lactase tablets and am praying for the best.
A few months back Ophelia posted this really cool music video on her site that I meant to repost here but never did. Well I don't think I did.
The song is amazingly beautiful, and the video makes it even better. You need to be in a pretty chill, unhurried and relaxed kind of mood to enjoy it though. If you're currently over caffeinated, save it to watch later.
Here's their myspace for more listening, it's ok stuff but the song Twice is by far my favorite.
Time to go get a haircut.
Work is lame today. My favorite two work people are working from home, so I can't go waste time with them. lazyJ is on IM, but I think he's trying to actually do work. It's a rare occurrence so I don't want to disturb him. Plus I've gone through pretty much all of my feeds in Google Reader. The internet seems kind of empty at the moment.
So....time to post a bunch of random crap right? I'm temporarily motivated, so I figure I'll just go with it. Let's start with a little self promotion.
You should facebook me so we can throw sheep at each other.
Are you tired of rock band posts yet? Well I'm not tired of writing them, so sucks to be you! I just wanted to share that we (I'm including lazyJ and Tom) are not the only ones currently rock band obsessed.

Check out some quotes from Ammogirl's blog.
First this:
Also, I have a package at the post office and I’m pretty sure it’s Rock Band, which means: time to ROCK! My goal is to get good enough to battle Flatgreg and Kario online…and ANNIHILATE them! They will throw down their instruments in awe of my mad skilz and immediately beg me to take them on as roadies, which I will pretend to think about before callously pushing them away! Because I will be a ROCK GODDESS! I don’t have roadies, I HAVE PEONS!!!
Then this:
Rock Band is the coolest thing in one million years times forever! It is my new favorite thing, even more than ice cream, and all I can think about is the how long until I can play again. In fact, last night I was just sitting down for an evening jam session before bed when I heard my IM go off, and although I knew it was John, and I hadn’t chatted with him all day, I still thought, “Awww…” and debated ignoring him or not. I KNOW! That’s so bad! Of course I chatted with him. But: ROCK BAND!
To put that in context, John is her husband and he's deployed in Iraq right now.

And another rock band obsession bit for ya, I was IMing lazyJ about how I haven't been keeping up with people since I usually call people on my drive home, and I've been riding my motorcycle a lot lately which equals no phone calls. lazJ's response?
Yeah, in the car is the best time to use the phone, since you can't play rockband while driving.
I have a bad habit of using "your" instead of "you're" when typing. So much so that the A. Kid gave me this t-shirt since I was always telling him "Your retarded!" in IM.

Well, looks like I found my opposite.

Here is the window phrase blown up, but still practically unreadable.
And here is what it actually says:
peace&love,
lazyJ
It's great that whenever I send a text message from my phone with the word "test" in it, it always tries to auto-complete it with "testes." I don't know if I should thank Microsoft for that one, or if my phone just knows me really well.
I'd take a picture for ya but I don't know how to take a picture of my phone using my phone.
Work sucks. Time to go play rock band. Oh wait, I have to write a status report first.
Weekly accomplishments at work:
- Kept current on the latest developments in the LOLcat industry
- Looked at which Rock Band songs I want to waste money on.
- IM'd lazyJ a LOT. IM'd other people less.
- Researched commuting to work by bike.
- Tried out new pizza place. It showed promise. Need to try it again when I'm not stuffed up with pollen.
I actually did get a lot of work stuff done at work this week, but none of it is worth mentioning here. Ok, now it's really time to go play rock band. Tom's coming over to play. woot!
Nothing exciting to say.
Been playing rock band. I wish I could play the drums on the Yeah Yeah Yeah's song Maps like this guy:
Added songs to the music player:
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
Smashing Pumpkins - Zero, which I wish was available for rock band.
How lame is it to watch videos of other people playing rock band?
What the hell! It's April fool's day, or was, which also means it was my mom's birthday. I mean I remembered this time, unlike last year, but somewhere between walking out of work and reaching my car my mind completely went blank. I think it's the freedom and excitement of leaving work while the sun is still out that just wipes my mind clear. So unfortunately, that phone call to mom got thrown out too.
ARGGHHHH!!!
We've got music! For real this time. A year or so ago I tried to add a music player to the site, but I could only get it to load one song so it was kind of worthless. If you look over to the left, under the Twitters, you'll see our brand spankin' new playlist.com player. It looks a little funny since I had to squeeze it down to fit, but whatever. It plays music and it's free!
I threw in some stuff I've been listening to a lot lately. Bat for Lashes is a recent favorite who sings the song "What's a Girl To Do". The cover of R.E.M.'s Everybody Hurts is done by a band I caught waiting for Lykke Li during SXSW called Bodies of Water that I thought were pretty good.
ENJOY.
Tom raised money for St.Baldrick's again this year to fight kid's cancer. He was in Brazil during the official head shaving so he held his own private head shaving event for his supporters. Everyone agreed on giving Tom the Ben Franklin look, except for Blondie who wouldn't give up on the mullet. She even drew a picture instructing how to cut it.

Blondie: "Did you see...you have not adhered...to my..."
Jonathan: "I'm illiterate so I couldn't read your diagram"

Blondie: "Oh you're the guy with the forehead"
Blondie: "You're cutting too much!"
Matt: "Everything's gotta go, I don't think you understand."
Tom: "OWWWWW!" (5 seconds after blondie takes over)

Blondie: "Wait, I have to even you out" (Tom's missing half his hair at this point"
Me: "Right, because otherwise you'd look ridiculous"

Gabe: "The thing on the front has to stay. It's kind of the anchor. You pass him in the street, and look back and say that's even more awesome. Is that guy that awesome? And then you're like YES HE IS"

More pics on Flickr if you haven't had enough already. And if you want to watch the shaving, here goes. The video is really dark, but some of the audio is pretty funny.
My bro sent this to me:
Woman Goes for Leg Operation, Gets New Anus Instead
A German retiree is taking a hospital to court after she went in for a leg operation and got a new anus instead, the Daily Telegraph is reporting.
The woman woke up to find she had been mixed up with another patient suffering from incontinence who was to have surgery on her sphincter.
The clinic in Hochfranken, Bavaria, has since suspended the surgical team.
Now the woman is planning to sue the hospital. She still needs the leg operation and is searching for another hospital to do it.
The headline was a little misleading though since I first thought this woman somehow ended up with 1 leg and two anuses. Wow. It's not too often that I get to pluralize "anus."
Ok time to finish my taxes.
I haven't been posting lately. I have some ideas and some videos and pictures to make posts out of, but I just haven't gotten around to getting it done. I've been stagnent. I need a change. Something to shuffle everything up.

Good-bye beard of two straight years!
Good-bye mohawk of a year and a half!
Time for a fresh start.
peace&love,
lazyJ
p.s. While shaving the beard last night, I did it in several steps. First giving me some "friendly mutton chops" then a nice horseshoe mustache and ending w/ a toothbrush mustache. But alas, I didn't take any picture cause I was shaving in the shower while naked and it felt weird taking pictures of myself while naked. Even though it was only of my head. The idea still felt dirty.
SXSW 2008 is over! It was fun and I'm surprised it's taken me this long to join in the festivities. Last year I went to one free show and saw Northern State which was a blast. This year I expanded my involvement and took two half days Thursday and Friday to catch some free day shows. Highlights were seeing Fastball, Wheatus, Presidents of the United States of America, and Lykke Li (3 times!!)
If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a huge fan. You might have seen my Twitter about making an ass of myself in front of Lykke Li. Here's the full story - it's Thursday about 1pm and I'm waiting for Lykke's first show to start. I'm drinking a free beer, and I'm about a quarter done with it and starting to feel pretty intoxicated. (I know, my tolerance is ridiculous). I figure I better get some food and get in line to buy a taco. It's taking forever, but some other band is playing which keeps me entertained. I turn around to see what they look like, and BAM! Lykke Li is standing two people behind me along with her band. I get that "holy shit!" feeling in my chest and turn back around before she sees how far my jaw has dropped.
I order my taco and debate whether or not I should approach her for a picture. See I'm generally a shy kind of guy, and not exactly smooth under pressure. (I do OK in emergencies though since I did put out a fire on Tom once.) I figure why the hell not, and approach her and ask if I can get a picture with her. She's hesitantly says ok, so I hand my camera to the only other asian person there (natural photographer), and get this beauty that I posted earlier:

We share a few words, and she says she's shocked that anyone recognized her in Texas. I tell her I think her music is great, and ask how to pronounce her name. She says it's "LEE-ka LEE," spoken really fast. Then I do something stupid, and ask her if she's going to play the spoons. See she has this one video where the entire thing is shot in a bathroom, and she taps spoons on the sink and in the water as part of the instrumentals. It's pretty cool, but a moronic question to ask of a live performance. There's a moment of silence, which I imagine is her translating English into Swedish in her head, realizing what I said was not funny, and then figuring out how to respond nicely. "Um...no," she says. I can't remember exactly how that conversation ended, but it could've been right there. The only thing worse I could've said was "Oh, so you're from Sweden. I love IKEA!"
Want to see something funny? See how happy she is to be next to me in the above photo? Compare that to this picture taken at the third show I went to where I'm standing about 30 feet away. Hmm, I'm going to have to talk to her about this. It's doesn't bode well for our relationship if she's happier the farther away I am.

Her best performance of the three I saw was the third one at Club de Ville, but I was standing with my right ear against a speaker so the audio is uber crap. Her song "Let It Fall" is a great one live. You get to see her drummer totally spaz out, plus at about 1:20 you see how much she loves me when she walks over and acknowledges me, or maybe just the entire side of the stage I was standing on. Either way, I'll take it.
Here's the complete set of videos I have of Lykke Li at SXSW 2008. You can check out her songs on her myspace page, but it's unfortunate the audio in the vids I put up on youtube is so bad because there's this raw passion in her live shows that just puts her over the top.
There's also some extra pics on my flickr.
Man I really don't want to go back to work Monday.

So tired...I stayed for Presidents of the United States of America but lazyJ bailed after Wheatus. They were both great. Lykke Li hasn't fallen in love with me yet, not even just a little bit. Maybe I need to go to more of her shows?
quick post. I bailed on work at noon today to go see my new favorite female musician Lykke Li play. she's in town for SXSW, and I caught two of her shows so far. she's pretty awesome, I recorded the whole first show and parts of the second. lazyJ showed up for the second, and he agreed that she's awesome. awesome awesome awesome.
I know, there's 1500 bands here, why would I see one more than once? did u not read the part about her being awesome?
youtube vids coming as soon as I get a chance. lazyJ and I are waiting now to see wheatus, and maybe presidents of the USA and bowling for soup. we're old, not sure how long we'll make it.
Saw this somewhere and saved it, don't remember form where now. So credit for this goes out to someone from somewhere. Thanks whoever you are! Google Trends let's you view the historical popularity of various search terms, and compare them to each other.

It looks like the internet lost a bit of innocence in early 2006. I didn't check the validity of the graphic since there are certain search terms I don't want to do from work.
On an unrelated note for the Austin people, are any of you doing any SXSW music stuff?
Any of you ever use Spokeo? Spokeo sent me an email the other day saying someone had found me there, and listed all social networking sites Spokeo had found me on. Myspace, friendster, flickr, picassa, facebook, and linkedin. Oh, and pandora, the personalized radio station site. Apparently you give Spokeo someone's email address, and it finds all their public accounts. It's interesting to see who of your peeps has accounts that you didn't even know they had. For instance I found out Tom has an account on pandora, so I got curious and checked out what he was listening to.
Tom's music stations on Pandora
You see that over on the left? The last station he listened to of all the music stations he's made? That's right, Hannah Montana.

To be fair here are my music stations. The first 3 aren't my stations, they're other people's stations I checked out. As in Tom's. Sometimes you find out things that can't be undone, kind of like when you were a kid and stumbled upon your dad's porn collection. Except that this is worse.
Tom's in Brazilfor a while so I'm not even sure if he's going to be able to defend himself on this one
