Oh yeah?
Take that!
I saw this Face Transformer site couple months back on Ophelia's site and thought it was neat. The first pic is the one I gave it, the rest are ones I got back.

So, I just turned 30. A couple years ago at my Sister's college graduation under heavy intoxication I decided that I was going to get a tattoo when I turned 30. And I decided that I would get the same tattoo that my Grandfather had.
Growing up a young lad in Montana I spent a lot of time w/ my Grandpa. My grandparents only lived 45 minutes away. So they came in often to watch sporting events. All holidays were spent at their house, and I always spent at least two weeks in the summer w/ them along w/ many scattered weekends. So my Grandpa was a pretty big influence on me growing up. While I was in high school he died and it was my first real experience w/ the death of someone close. I found it to be very traumatizing and as a result it was also one of my most significant emotional bonding experiences w/ my Father.
Grandpa's tattoo was on his right shoulder. It was his name. Everyone called him Grandpa Dick.

A close up:

My recreation: (I don't have any kids. So I used my girlfriend's cat.)

And, well, there's no denying there's some humor in it too.

I was reading Rolling Stone over the weekend when I saw this graphic:

Holy Bat Shit! I hope that $12.5 million is what the ice just cost and not actually the price they paid to melt. And if it is, then I'm switching from being an engineer to an ice melter. Seriously. I'm so major at ice melting it's not even funny. I'm calling FEMA right now to see if they have any more ice melting contracts open for bidding.

I got the following email this morning w/ the subject line: Hockey incident
Jamaal – It has been brought to my attention that during an adult league game about a week ago, you mooned players on the ice surface from the stands. Although this may seem humorous, it is not appropriate behavior for a public place. There were families in the stands at the time as witnessed by those players sitting on the players bench at the time of this incident. Actions like this are not acceptable and something like this can and will get you suspended if it were to happen again. Please remember that you can have fun at the rink, but just use better judgment while having fun. Thank you for your co-operation. |
I hope these people weren't at the party.

Four years ago I rented a house with Tom and another high school friend we affectionately called "casper." Now I'm living in a house I pay the mortgage on live with lazyJ.
Four years ago Flattire was just getting started and Tom and I posted almost everyday. Now we've added lazyJ and post about once a week.
Four years ago friendster was king, now it's all about myspace.
Four years ago I split my chin open and Tom broke his teeth. Now we both have sleep apnea and suck at breathing.
A lot of things have changed since four years ago...

...but some things are exactly the same.
I had dinner w/Tom and lazyJ the other night, and I came to realize that I haven't really been filling everyone in on my sleep issues. To catch everyone up, I've had two sleep studies, two MRIs, a septoplasty, and a million doctor visits.
My current deal is I sleep with a bipap on, a machine that helps me breathe when I sleep since I suck at respiration so much. It's kind of like someone giving you cpr, but without the chest pounding. This of course is not the easiest thing to sleep through. During my last doc visit, I was prescribed ambien to help me get drowsy enough to sleep through the discomfort. It's a temporary measure until my body gets more used to the bipap.
I joked some with my doctor about the ambien side effects, but she assured me I had nothing to worry about. Last night was my first night on the little blue pill, and when I woke up in the morning I felt decently well rested. I had a little bit of a soreness in my upper stomach, but figured it was due to the air I had swallowed on the bipap (that's another story). Tonight when I was brushing my teeth, I noticed something was missing.
See, I have this other issue called bruxism, which is the grinding of your teeth when you sleep. The cause is unknown, but the solution is wearing a mouthguard when you sleep. It's lame, but I've seen the pictures of people's teeth when they don't wear the mouth guard, and it ain't pretty. And yes, I wear both a mouth piece and a breathing mask when I sleep. I look super cool in bed. Anyways, I couldn't find my mouthpiece, and it suddenly hit me. Did I eat it when I was sleeping last night?
lazyJ's birthday is Saturday, celebrating tonight. It's gonna be awesome! Wish him a happy 30th.
