Winter Wonderland

On Monday February 24th I had my exciting weekly class on how to find porn on the internet. Unfortunately, mother nature had other plans. What started as freezing rain soon turned to sleet and even a little hail, and the roads of Austin turned icy faster than the girl at work that caught m? staring at her can. I drove towards downtown, but then gave up on that idea after sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for 45 minutes, at which point I gave up and headed home. My proud pursuit of porn would have to wait.

When all was said and done, we ended up with a solid sheet of ice. Although this made the roads treacherous, there was plenty of this to be seen:

Right after I took this picture, my neighbor slipped and broke his leg. I laughed at his misfortune and continued on my way.

I ended up parking on the street, with my poor car unsheltered from the harsh winter. I witnessed 2 other vehicles lose momentum on the hill, which were then forced to back down and abandon their vehicles. I didn't dare attempt the driveway - I was barely able to walk up.

None of this is quite as amusing as what happened to my poor roommate. He actually went to class, and by the time he got home things were much worse. He actually made it halfway up the driveway before his shiny slick soled shoes gave up and he slid on hands and feet until he hit the street. This tore up his hands pretty bad as you can imagine. His second attempt was around back, but yet again he didn't have enough traction. With his quick thinking skills, he removed his shoes and made the ascent into the backyard in his stocking feet. I received a desperate call from a frostbitten roommate to unlock the back door, and this is what I see:

I didn't actually have my camera handy, so I had to fabricate this image afterwards. I'm sure you wouldn't have noticed if I didn't tell you, but I wanted to maintain the high standards of journalism that we've set forth thus far. I don't know where this story is going, so I'm going to end it.......now.
